Tanja Poutiainen, Alpine Skier

Tanja Poutiainen

“Do what you enjoy doing, enjoy what you are doing.”

Tanja Poutiainen, the reigning queen of Finnish Alpine skiing and one of the brightest stars in Finland, has made her smile known to the entire population. The winner of the World Cup in slalom and two-time winner of the World Cup in giant slalom has skied herself into the heart of Alpine skiing with her skills and sunny disposition. The multi-talented skier from Rovaniemi, with more than 200 World Cup starts to her name, does not take a breather even after the snow has melted but exchanges her skiing boots for football shoes, goes orienteering in the forest or chases a shuttlecock.

Tanja started downhill skiing early as a child and took part in club championships for under 9-year-olds six times. In January 2011, Tanja rewrote history by being the oldest World Cup winner in slalom at the age of 30 years and 9 months. Her pace is only accelerating.

Tanja has participated in Halti’s product development since Halti started sponsoring Poutiainen in 1999, two years after she won the World Junior Championship in slalom. We will develop the clothes worn by Tanja and the rest of the national Alpine team into our next season's collection. The top-quality of our clothing is affected by all the feedback given by our top athletes. Cooperation with our professional skiers guarantees that our collections work even in the most demanding conditions.

Tanja also has her individual collection. Its principal place of sales, the Tanja Poutiainen Store, is located in Levi – on her home slope where our Alpine queen won her first World Cup slalom event in April 2004.
